Teaching

PLEASE NOTE  Many screens/categories are tailored for specific schools and colleges. These guidelines are for the categories that are shared throughout the University. If you have questions about categories in PRO specific to your school or college, please contact Amanda Kulp.

  • Academic Advising Summary
This screen pertains only to enrollment or program advising and asks for counts of students advised. If required for your department's annual review, indicate approximately how many undergraduate or graduate students you have advised in a semester or year per department instructions.

  • Academic Advisees
This screen pertains only to enrollment or program advising. One record per student per level (UG or GR) is the easiest way to maintain your list. Add the End Date only when you are no longer advising the student.

  • Achievements of Distinction of Current/Former Students
You can use this screen to record student or alumni achievements. However this screen does not print on Faculty Activity Reports or the PTTR/P&T reports.

  • Courses Taught
Beginning with Spring 2009, courses are loaded approximately two weeks following the twentieth day of classes each semester. Grade distributions are loaded approximately eight weeks following the end of the semester. You can list courses taught prior to Spring 2009 or at other institutions in the Summary List of Courses Taught. If changes are needed to this screen, please contact Emily Lowrance-Floyd.

  • Directed Student Learning
Use this screen to record your committee responsibilities (master's and doctoral exams) and activities directing student work (undergrad, independent study, postdoctoral mentoring). Please fill out the "stage of completion" field for entries on this screen to ensure that all of your committee service appears on your annual report.

  • Professional Leadership, Non-Credit Instruction Taught
Use this screen to describe any instruction that you've provided beyond your normal teaching responsibilities, with the exception of guest class lectures (which should be recorded in the Presentations - Service screen in the Other Service/Professional Development section).

  • Summary List of Courses Taught
Record your own list of courses you've developed and taught on this screen. Refer to the online instructions on this screen for details on how to record your pre-2009 and/or non-KU courses.
